Author Interview with Tyler
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
For the most part, it energizes me. All of my jobs- (writing, youth ministry, coaching) can be stressful, but they also give life. They each can be tiring, but they each give more than they take. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.
How did writing this book grow you spiritually?
It helped me reflect on what’s most important in this life. I shared stories from my entire life, from childhood, to high school, to more recent stories- So it helped me reflect and appreciate what God has done throughout my life. It also gave me this thought: “If I’m going to write this, I need to live it out,” which is always a good challenge.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Anything that is related to sports and music. I spend a lot of my time with those two passions. I love the Cubs and Indiana sports teams, and I love Christian music- especially the bands that are reaching all types of people with their art.
What books or authors have most influenced your own writing?
Bob Goff really inspired me. His style of writing is what I was going for in my book: Lots of stories, short chapters, with lots of Scripture application and life transformation as a result.
