Are you disappointed with life?
The Bible Companion Book 7 helps you reconcile the realities of life with the promises of God. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scriptures without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal, group, or homeschool Bible study.
In the Books of Wisdom, God speaks to us in poetry—the language of the heart. These books reveal a God concerned not only about our minds and bodies, but also our emotions. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs bridge the gap between life as we hoped it would be and life as it is. If you struggle with your life’s circumstances, The Bible Companion Book 7 will help you find guidance, comfort, and strength in the poetry of men and women who searched for God in the dark and found Him.
Excerpt from the Book
Because the proverb is short and pithy, we may be tempted to think simple answers exist for difficult problems, but Proverbs does not teach this. The book assumes a connection to the whole of Scripture, especially the other wisdom books. Taken together, Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes teach us that navigating the complexities of life requires wisdom that comes from God.
Moral principles will benefit anyone, but the Scriptures teach that they must be lived out in the context of a relationship with God. People who follow moral laws are still fools unless they understand the most important fact of the universe—God is the Creator, the rightful king of the world and our hearts.
Proverbs 1
THE NEED FOR WISDOM
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 1:7
PROVERBS IS WRITTEN TO THE immature who are teachable (the “simple” of verse 4) and the mature (the “wise” of verse 5). The first nine chapters are a father’s speeches instructing his son on how to discern between good and evil. Though the original audience was male, the book’s message is for everyone who will listen.
