“That wasn’t real.”
“No kidding.”
“I’m telling mommy.”
“I’d be more surprised if you didn’t.”
Her sister crumpled her nose, looking at her. “What’s that mean?”
Ellie caught sight of the bus, silently rolling down the street. She glanced sideways at her sister. “It means you’re a tattletale.”
“I am not.” She stood with her arms folded, threatening to cry.
The bus brakes screeched in protest as the large and otherwise silent machine rolled to a stop at their driveway. She stepped in front of Molly to make sure the silly girl didn’t get too close before it completely stopped.
“Achoo!”
She felt the damp impact of the violent wind reverberate against her back. A wave of rage erupted from Ellie, and she growled her next words out of earshot of the bus driver. “I am so done with you! Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more stressed, you ruin my morning. I’d be better off without both you and TEAMMATE in my life!” She roughly yanked Molly ahead of her before pushing the girl up the stairs of the bus. Her sister looked over her shoulder at the top of the steps before sticking out her tongue in defiance of her older sibling.
