About the Author
Scott Meinke is a business leader, writer, and ministry founder with decades of experience navigating faith in the workplace. After a long career in the insurance industry, Scott began writing stories that explore integrity, ambition, and what it means to follow Christ when success and conviction collide. The White Stone is his first novel – born out of real-world experience and shaped by Scripture – examining the quiet decisions that define character long before they define careers.

Interview with the Author
- How do you select the names of your characters?
I was very intentional with the names in this story, using them to reflect deeper spiritual themes drawn from Scripture.
The main character begins as Luke—a subtle nod to being “lukewarm”—but as his journey unfolds and he overcomes his struggles, he becomes Victor, symbolizing spiritual victory. His wife, Lois, is named after the strong biblical figure, representing steady, generational faith.
Other characters are also rooted in Revelation 2, particularly the message to the church at Pergamum. Marcus Ballam reflects the warning against the teaching of Balaam, while Nick Layton points to the Nicolaitans. In contrast, Chris Antin is inspired by Antipas, the faithful witness who stood firm under pressure.
I wanted each name to carry meaning—so that even beneath the surface of the story, the characters echo the truths and warnings of Scripture.
- What was your hardest scene to write?
The hardest scene to write was the moment of surrender—when I accepted Christ as my Savior and my wife rededicated her life to Him. That was such a deeply personal and defining moment in our lives that putting it into words felt almost impossible.
There’s a weight and a quiet transformation in those moments that don’t always translate easily onto a page. I’m not sure I fully captured it the way it was experienced in real life—but my hope is that readers can still feel the shift, the surrender, and the beginning of something new that we experienced in that season.
- What is your favorite childhood book?
My favorite childhood book was Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. My mom was an avid reader, and she made it a priority to read to me before bed when I was young. This was the book I asked for over and over again.
Even though I struggled with reading because of dyslexia, she made sure that didn’t stop me from developing a love for stories. Looking back, those moments meant more than just the book itself—they laid the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of reading, storytelling, and imagination.
- What do you like to do when you are not writing?
When I’m not writing, my favorite thing is simply spending time with my wife of 37 years, our four children, and our six grandchildren. We don’t often get everyone together—especially with our son living overseas—but those moments when we are all together mean everything to me.
They are my “why,” and no matter what we’re doing, just being with them is what brings me the most joy.
- If you could invite one person to dinner, who would it be and what would you cook?
Honestly, the specific person matters less to me than the opportunity to share a table and do life together. My wife and I love to entertain, and we especially enjoy meeting new people—particularly those who are optimistic and able to see the good even when life is challenging.
As for the meal, I’ve been told my chicken fried rice is a winner, so that would definitely be on the menu. Good food, meaningful conversation, and a spirit of encouragement—that’s my kind of dinner.
